Terms of Use
Last updated August 28, 2026
These are the terms you agree to when you use the DRAFT app or draftbiking.com. We have kept them short and readable, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. If you don't agree with them, don't use DRAFT.
DRAFT is made by Firm Air LLC ("we", "us"). These terms cover the DRAFT iPhone and Apple Watch app and the draftbiking.com website, including the pages your supporters use to watch you ride. "You" means whoever is using them.
How we handle your data is a separate document, and it is the one to read next: the Privacy Policy.
DRAFT is used on a bike, in traffic. Please read this section even if you skip the rest.
DRAFT is free. You don't need an account — the app works as a guest from the first ride, and signing in with Apple or Google is an optional way to carry your history to a new phone.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own riding. In return, please don't:
DRAFT talks to our servers over the internet. Your carrier's data charges, your battery and your phone's own limits are between you and them.
Your ride data is yours. We store it so we can show it back to you, and we don't sell it or advertise against it — the Privacy Policy has the detail.
Sharing is always something you do on purpose, and it works by handing someone a private link. That means the link is the permission: whoever holds it can see what it opens. Send them thoughtfully, the way you would a house key. If a link gets somewhere you didn't intend, you can regenerate your event view key in the app, which immediately stops the old one working.
Training rides have no live audience at all. At an event you pick who can follow you — private, your team, or publicly findable by name and bib — and you can tighten that whenever you like.
At an event, someone already allowed to watch you can send a cheer: one of four fixed kinds, plus an optional short name for themselves. That name is the only text one person can put in front of another anywhere in DRAFT. It is capped at 20 characters and stripped of anything but ordinary name characters, and there is no free-form messaging in the app — no chat, no comments, no profiles, no photos.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive behaviour. Don't use the name field — or any other part of DRAFT — to harass, threaten, impersonate somebody, advertise, or send anything hateful, obscene or otherwise objectionable. There is no warning system and no strikes: we will remove the content and we may permanently bar the device or account behind it.
Events in DRAFT are set up by their organisers or by us on an organiser's behalf. Taking part in an event, being eligible for it, your bib and everything else about the ride itself is between you and that organiser — we are not the organiser, and being visible in DRAFT is not an entry, a registration or a permission to ride.
Course routes, distances and rest-stop positions come from the organiser's own files. They can be wrong or out of date. The road wins, every time.
DRAFT is not a timing system. There is no ranking, no placing and no corrected time, by design — this is built for participation rides. Nothing DRAFT shows should be used to settle a result.
If you allow it, DRAFT writes your finished rides into Apple Health on your phone as cycling workouts. It writes only; it never reads your Health data back on the phone. You can withdraw that permission in the iOS Health app at any time.
On Apple Watch, DRAFT runs a workout session purely to read your live heart rate during a ride, and discards that session rather than saving it. The Watch app needs your paired iPhone and does nothing on its own.
Bluetooth cadence sensors are third-party hardware. Pairing, charging, mounting and calibrating them is between you and their maker, and DRAFT is fully usable without one.
The DRAFT app, the website, the name, the logo and everything we made stay ours. Your ride data stays yours; you give us only the permission we need to store it, process it, and show it to the people you have chosen to share it with.
DRAFT is a free service that we develop actively. Features can change or be removed, and the service can be interrupted for maintenance or by problems outside our control. We'll give notice where we reasonably can, particularly for anything that affects an event day. If we ever discontinue DRAFT, we will give you a way to get your ride data out first.
DRAFT is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app or the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any measurement, position, estimate or arrival time it shows will be accurate.
Some places don't allow disclaimers like that one. Where that's true, it applies to you only as far as the law allows.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Firm Air LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, of profits, or of ride history, arising out of your use of DRAFT — and our total liability for any claim relating to DRAFT is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
You agree to indemnify Firm Air LLC against claims arising from your own misuse of DRAFT or your breach of these terms.
You can stop using DRAFT whenever you like, and delete everything from Settings › Account › Delete account. We can suspend or end access for someone who abuses the service, breaks these terms, or puts other riders at risk.
Apple requires that a few things be said plainly when an app ships with its own terms, so:
Younger riders take part in participation events too. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian should set DRAFT up, hold the account, and agree to these terms with you.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Franklin County, Ohio. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
If we change these terms, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above, and call out anything meaningful in the app. Continuing to use DRAFT after a change means you accept the new version.
